What template to use in VS2010

Question

I want to store data in a data base and thought I would do a database project that I can add to future projects. VS2010 has loads of database project templates. Which one should I use - i just want a simple database for account data storage.

i decided to add a data source from solution explorer - i think that will be much easier. My problem now is - as well as learning c# - i need to get my head around data bases lol. What am i doing.

You say loads of database project templates but I only see a couple. Why not try some? If there are some in particular that you want to know about then you are more likely to get a useful answer if you are more specific about what is relevant to you. Note that is likely that if you are likely going to have difficulty using something generated as a project to be used in another project. There are many ways that it would be possible but it is likely not as flexible as you might think. regardless it would be beneficial for you to try some. There are ways to benefit from tools provided by Microsoft other than by generating a project. You can get the IDE to generate a substantial amount of code just by creating a data source. Doing that is much more flexible for use in the future for other projects. See my Database Table Update in a DataGridView without Writing Code for a taste of that. There are many articles in this web site that will help you. Search (from the home page) the articles for entity; I think that the Entity Framework is worth learning about but I know nothing about it. Also search for 3-tier and three-tier (two separate searches); that is not so relevant to small applications but highly relevant to large ones. Another keyword to search for is DAL as in Data Access Layer which is one of the three tiers in a three-tier application.
