What Would be the Signature for Property in wcf

hello guys how r u ?

my question is that, i am creating the wcf application, in that application i am using property instead of methods in the IService interface so i am using [OperationContract] as signature for property so there is an error comes "[OperationContract] is only use for methods" so what would be the signature for property ???

I thought I'd have a look in the MSDN documentation for confirmation that you can't use properties when creating a WCF service contract. I could't find anything but I did find this thread which seems conclusive: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/824268/do-wcf-services-expose-properties

I'm no expert on WCF but it looks like that's the case. As you can see from the MSDN documentation ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.servicemodel.operationcontractattribute.aspx ), the OperationContract attribute can only target methods and not properties. The same applies to the OperationBehavior attribute. Fortunately, properties are just methods 'under the hood' anyway so it's not difficult to work around this apparent limitation.

As the OperationContract attribute can only be applied to a method, I'd use two 'get' and 'set' methods in your interface rather than a property: IService1.cs ------------- [ServiceContract] public interface IService1 { [OperationContract] string GetName(); [OperationContract] void SetName(string name); } Service1.svc.cs --------------- [ServiceBehavior] public class Service1 : IService1 { private string name; [OperationBehavior] public string GetName() { return name; } [OperationBehavior] public void SetName(string name) { this.name = name; } }
