In my opinion, they are for sloppy programming. They are used when we don't want to figure out what the type of data is. They can alos be confusing, since we cannot return a var from a function without losing the type; a var will re returned as an object but without any other way of knowing what the type is or using the object as anything other than an object. Does Java have vars? I am not sure, but I think so. So Microsoft had to make them to for C# but I think it is a mistake. I suggest avoiding vars. Learn how ot not use them.

Hai Hi - the var data type in C# is a declarative for variables in memory. If the ram is pointed correctly you will have many reference to it. Many objects have references to variable types but its here that rubbish collection in java is superior to C# Java is superior to most things other than listboxes.
