when generate 10000 2d matrix bar code take too much time

Hey Ahmed There are several factors which are resposible for your application performance to save the image in a huge quantity. Eg. 1. Writing speed of your Hard Disk (Even writing a robust programming will be depend on the writing speed of the Hard Disk) 2. RAM - Availability of RAM for running and processing your application request will also responsible for the performance And so on.. I suggest you to follow some below points for improve performance 1. Do use async process and try to avoid using sync process if your task is running longer 2. Try running paraller loop instead of normal for loop. 3. If your application​ is using some unmanaged resources try to release those as soon as you complete your task. 4. As I noticed that the value of txt inder loop is fetching from datarow (which was same excluding the serial no) fill this before loop and just concat the string under the loop. Just try the points and it will slightly boost (not so but somehow yes) application performance. Good Luck !!

Usually it should be a windows service which is always running and looks up for barcoding task from somewhere lets say database table so when you need to create barcode make an entry in a table with status = new or zero or something then this job picks up new task with status = new when it runs and finishes it work and marks the row as status = done you will need another screen which will show status of this task from database and also show barcodes which may be stored somewhere on file or in db. hope this helps.

I meant to say the UI thread of win forms also occupies some memory hence it may take some time. Usually for such tasks it should not be synchronous process you can make a service in background which will do it task and show result in win forms only when it is ready this way you may finish the task in less than minute saving some seconds.

I think generating 10k barcodes in 1 minute is fair performance. it takes what it takes to do some tasks. performance expecatation should be proportionate to amount of work.

Here's his reply: ... looking at the code it seems the bottleneck is in this line: dm.DM(...).Save() The line appears to be doing 2 things that might be time-consuming: 1) Generating the barcode. 2) Writing it to disk file as an image file (EMF in this case). I tested a different approach using my company's own toolkit which is LEADTOOLS v19. Since I don't have your data to test with I composed a string and tried to make it close to yours in size. It saves all 200K images as compressed TIFF files in a folder. Since LEADTOOLS is optimized for speed for both generating barcodes and also saving image files the total time on my test PC took about 6.138 minutes for 200000 barcodes. If your data is larger than mine (I'm not sure) you might need a slightly larger image. This could increase the total time but not by much. The test PC had an Intel Core i7-870 Processor which is well over 5 years old. If you use a faster machine you could get better performance. If you don't have LEADTOOLS and would like to try it you can get a free evaluation edition from www.leadtools.com
