When i should USE HostingEnvironment.MapPath?

Please let me know in which condition i should use HostingEnvironment.MapPath?

You use HostingEnvironment.MapPath when you are not aware of the exact physical path of a resource, but you know the virtual or relevent path. Using HostingEnvironment.MapPath you can get the physical path, which we need many times in our code because our application may be hosted at different servers like testing, demo, staging, production, etc.

I used it in WebAPI Controller My code snippet is if (single == 1) xslFile = System.Web.Hosting.HostingEnvironment.MapPath(@"~/Reports/xsl/labels_single.xsl"); else xslFile = System.Web.Hosting.HostingEnvironment.MapPath(@"~/Reports/xsl/labels.xsl"); It is working fine.

How did you come to know about "HostingEnvironment.MapPath" ? where did you hear that word? Simple google it and it takes you to MSDN which explains everything. I think, after using "HostingEnvironment.MapPath" somewhere in your code and if you have some code specific question like it's not working the way you expected, then it should be posted as a question here. This is not a question.
