There are no types of threads available as such. Thread is class in .Net that create a separate line of execution to perform the tasks. But there are different ways to achieve this. In old days of 3.5 version you had System.Threading namespace that have classes to support multithreading. and you should have sound knowledge of behavior of threads to deal with them otherwise it could result in messing up the logic and everything else. Now a days TPL (Task Parallel Library) is available in .Net 4.0 in System.Threading.Tasks namespace providing the different taste of threading. You don't need to be master in threading but if you have ground knowledge of threads you can go and use the Task Parallel.ForEach and Parallel.For to create and execute the code in separate threads in parallel with very good utlilization of you multicore processor.
