Where we use convert.Toint32 and convert.Toint64

Hi, Where do we use convert.Toint32 and convert.Toint64. What is difference between these? Thank.

There are a lot of overloads of those particular methods but the only ones, which are commonly used in my experience, take a string as a parameter. For example: int i = Convert.ToInt32("16"); long j = Convert.ToInt64("1000000000000"); int k = Convert.ToInt32("ff", 16); // 255 long l = Convert.ToInt64("1000", 2); //8 The first two overloads are often used as an alterative to int.Parse or long.Parse as they return zero, rather than throwing an exception, if the string is null. However, a better way to handle potential errors is to use the int.TryParse or long.TryParse methods instead. The last two overloads which take a second 'base' parameter are useful as they allow you to convert hex and binary strings to decimal integers or longs. When converting between the numeric types, most developers just use casts if there isn't an implicit conversion available rather than a Convert method.

Hi James, Simple answer for this is convert.Toint32 will Converts the value of the specified integer to an equivalent 32-bit signed integer and convert.Toint64 coverts to 64-bit signed integer......... where base32 and base64 have their own area.......Base64 is commonly used in a number of applications including email via MIME, and storing complex data in XML..
