Which is the best way to start coding in ASP.NET

Question

Sir I am doing training in .Net. Here is my doubt:- My tutor told us to write the ASP.Net code using Notepad in the beginning time of ASP.NET training. Why we write in that way as we have tools like visual Studio ? what is the difference in writing the ASP.Net code in Notepad and Visual Studio? please let me know?

Hi I am not sure why your tutor told you like this. But I suggest you should start writing your code using visual studio only. Since you are beginner and you will be not aware of C# code formatting etc. In notepad you can only type your code but you can't compile and run it. But in VS you can do. In Notepad you will be not able code for .aspx.cs. Regards Iftikar

You can only use notepad console application.Better install express addition from Microsoft site.It's completely free :)

Agree with Iftikar. You can download Visual Studio Express versions that are free to download.
