Which one is better .NET or MFC ?

Hi

Maybe we can`t possibly compare MFC with .NET, But if we assume we can do compared, to the start for construction a new project which one is better than other?

Any help would be appreciated.

So did I and after using C# Windows Forms since 2002 I certainly wouldn't want to go back to MFC now. MFC is really just a thin wrapper around the Win32 API and it takes a lot longer to build an application of any size with MFC than it does with C# Windows Forms. Sure you have more low-level control with MFC but if you need features which Windows Forms doesn't expose you can also dip into the Win32 API with C# as well. Of course if you only know C++ then MFC is the only game in town but if you know both languages I'd choose C# Windows Forms every time.

They've kept on updating it because of demand from the hardcore C++ developers who don't care much for managed languages such as C#. Of course you could argue that both MFC and Windows Forms have now been relegated to 'legacy' desktop technologies by Microsoft's recent emphasis on Windows 8 'Store' applications though I certainly haven't noticed any great demand for the latter from business users at the present time.

What are you trying to do? MFC is an old technology. I used to work with MFC in 1997.

I don't think that there will be anything you can do in .NET that you can't do with MFC. What .NET does give you is relative easy of use and maintenance compared to MFC and a much less steeper learning curve. Those aspects have always been important to me because it has allowed me to concentrate on developing the application rather than worrying too much about the underlying plumbing.

If the MFC is very old technology why has been update today? For example we have MFC 10 in Visual Studio 2010 and lab lab lab
