white/crashed forms

Question

hey while in a download loop of a big webpage (using either WebClient or System.Net.Sockets.Socket) if the form is minimized/lost focus (ie clicked another window)/another window (like an AIM IM window) is put over it the whole form will go white until the download is complete ( or in the case of aim windows above it just the bit the aim was covering will go white). is there a way to stop this? in VB wouldnt u use DoEvents or somthing what do u do in C#? thx for ure time.

You perform the loading in a second thread so that the form can still redraw itself while you're downloading the page code. You'll have to be careful though because you should not allow user input until the loading itself is done if you do decide to use multiple threads.

hey i just got back to c# (had to take a long break) and iwas wondering what u mean by making a multithread app to deal with the prob . obviously i could multithread but what exactly do i thread lol. 1) the main download of page code but 2) another thread locks the form or somthing? sorry for asking newb questions i couldnt find a tutorial that deals with this thing.

You'll have to make a multithreaded application to do that. The problem is with a single-threaded application the form cannot redraw until the download method is completed.
