Windows store application development using C# and XAML

Question

Hi,

First time I am going to develop a windows store application with SQL server connectivity.

I have gone through different sites regarding this. I came to  know that, to establish a database connectivity to a store application we need to develop a WCF application  and using that Web API only we can do the db related things.Is this correct or we can establish db connectivity to a web store application through some other direct way? Also if there is some resource to develop store application using C# and XAML with SQL connectivity please share...
