Writing a CDR in a VB.Net Apllication

Question

Hello, I'm Developing a VB.Net Application thet needs to make a backup automayically to a CDR and restore data from it, i dont know how to write to a CDR or how to deal with a CD Writer. I know that facility exists on Windows XP, but i want it to be platform independent. Any one can Help me to do this????
