XML Schema definition........

Question

Hi I heard this XML Schema definition(XSD) from so many days. And I never worked on this. I worked on XML but not on XSD. Can any one tell what's the exact use of XSD. With examples is better.

Do you know what a schema is? A schema is the definition of the data especially the field names and field types. A xsd is a XML Schema Definition. Look for articles about schemas; when you understand what a schema is you will understand what a XSD is.

I have used this Utility to convert the XML into an Objects do the manipulation in the objects and finally convert the same into XML file. Rather than doing the manipulation in the XML directly. Manipulation of the objects is quiet faster when compare with direct manipulation in XML file. There were lot more options available in XSD.EXE Xsd.exe performs the following operations: XDR to XSD Generates an XML schema from an XML-Data-Reduced schema file. XDR is an early XML-based schema format. XML to XSD Generates an XML schema from an XML file. XSD to DataSet Generates common language runtime DataSet classes from an XSD schema file. The generated classes provide a rich object model for regular XML data. XSD to Classes Generates runtime classes from an XSD schema file. The generated classes can be used in conjunction with System.XML.Serialization.XMLSerializer to read and write XML code that follows the schema. Classes to XSD Generates an XML schema from a type or types in a runtime assembly file. The generated schema defines the XML format used by System.XML.Serialization.XMLSerializer.
