how to identify those records that was unable toget inserted

i have list of 500 records to be inserted in the table. How to identify those records that failed to get inserted in the table using sql server or in asp.net

INSERT failures should be monitored at the data access layer. If you are accessing data through a Stored Procedure (SP) you can handle the error with the SP using the BEGIN TRY...END TRY...BEGIN CATCH...END CATCH exception handling blocks.
