Transparent picture boxes

Question

I have an application that I allow the user to scroll through a series of jpg images. I have the images in a PictureBox and I want to lay another image on top of it that has a transparent backgroud. I am currently using two picture boxes for this but I can't seem to see the jpg due to the fact that the picture box with the transparent image in it covers it. How can you put a picture box onto of another picture box and be able to see the picture box below it?

That didn't help. I guess to get back to my original question... Can you take two pictureboxes put one on top of the other where one of the images has a transparency layer and be able to see through the first picturebox to the first picturebox? Or can this only be done with the image control? My point about the flickering is that when the program comes up and I switch between images the system loops twice through the procedure giving the appearance of a flicker.

Maybe you just need to add double buffering. Below are the lines of code to add to the constructor of your form to reduce flicker: // set up double-buffering SetStyle(ControlStyles.UserPaint true ); SetStyle(ControlStyles.AllPaintingInWmPaint true ); SetStyle(ControlStyles.DoubleBuffer true ); -Mike

This is a great example. The question I have is there a way to do this with a picturebox? The problem I am facing is that the images are flipping through a couple times and causing the image to appear like it is flickering.
